Pleasure Circle Participant Feedback
I recently received honest and meaningful input from the cohort that just completed the Pleasure Circle. They gave me some awesome feedback, and I thought it might be helpful if you’re deciding whether this program is for you or someone you know.
Three key takeaways:
First, several of the women said that the honesty and the openness that was present during Pleasure Circle was so refreshing. It was monumental, actually, for them because this isn’t what we do in this culture in terms of talking candidly and naming what is really going in their heads and in their bedrooms. They appreciated hearing from others about hesitations, fears, self criticism, and the like. The safety in the group allowed them to open up and feel the support.
The second notable feedback was the idea that sex isn’t just for orgasm. Wait, what?!! Yes, newsflash that sex can serve many purposes (relationship maintenance, playfulness, physical pleasure, connection) and therefore, you can have a really good sexual experience that doesn’t necessarily have to include orgasm. In Pleasure Circle, this participant learned that orgasm doesn’t always have to be the goal to have it be “successful.” With this framing, we have more room to have a good time and enjoy the sensuality of it instead of just the punctuation of a muscle spasm.
The third piece of feedback that I thought might be interesting was somatic. It’s the idea of getting out of your head and into your body. So much of sex happens in your mind. Yes, you have to be turned on. And that comes through desire and then subsequently arousal. But also, we have to get you into your body because if you spend too much time in your head, it’s going to be hard for you to actually feel desire. And so, Pleasure Circle highlighting the value of being in your body resonated with her.
